NHAI’s decision: Now puncture and vehicle repairing facility will start soon on the highway.

New Delhi, 22 June 2026: In order to enhance ease of travel and strengthen availability of facilities on National Highways and Expressways, National Highways Logistics Management Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of National Highways Authority of India, has directed its field offices to advise the hirers of wayside amenities to give priority to setting up of vehicle repairing shops and puncture repairing facilities at the earliest. The objective of this initiative is to improve the overall travel experience on National Highways, reduce vehicle dwell time, enhance road safety and ensure immediate assistance to common passengers and freight operators traveling on National Highway corridors.

It has been noted that there is a need for more number of vehicle and puncture repairing services on many national highways and expressways, which will enable the highway users to get timely mechanical assistance in case of vehicle breakdown and emergencies, thereby avoiding inconvenience, delays and possible safety concerns. NHLML is developing a network of modern way-side amenities on long-term lease basis under the Public-Private Partnership model. Under existing lease agreements with concessioners and lessees, a range of recognized facilities can be developed in addition to the mandatory facilities set out for each WSA. Vehicle repair shops and puncture repair facilities are among the facilities eligible for permission granted under the framework of the agreement.

These WSAs are envisioned as integrated service hubs that provide essential facilities to passengers and commercial vehicle operators on national highways and expressways. The development of such facilities will complement the broader objective of creating world class National Highway infrastructure and providing seamless mobility services to National Highway users. This initiative underlines NHAI’s commitment to develop safe and user-centric National Highway corridors that support economic growth while meeting the changing needs of passengers and logistics operators across the country.
