The Central Investigation Agency has taken a major action against terrorism and its financial network in Jammu and Kashmir by conducting a major search operation since early morning. The NIA teams have raided more than 10 locations on suspicion of over-ground workers and terror funding networks linked to the Pakistan-inspired terror organization ‘Lashkar-e-Taiba’ and its affiliates.
According to the information, these raids have been conducted along with personnel of the local police and Central Armed Police Forces on the suspected hideouts located in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir Valley. Separate teams of the NIA have since morning started an in-depth search at the homes and offices of financiers, terror facilitators and ex-members of Lashkar-e-Taiba directly or indirectly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba.
According to sources in the investigating agency, the main objective of the operation is to root out the network of illegal funding channeled through Hawala and digital channels from Pakistan and other foreign sources to carry out terrorist activities in the Valley. The money was used to lure local youth, buy weapons and plot attacks on security forces.
During these raids, the investigating agency has found several crippling documents, mobile phones, laptops, pen drives, as well as suspicious financial transaction diaries and bank account details. A technical examination of the seized literature and electronic evidence is currently underway. By adopting a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism, the central agencies have given a clear indication that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who helps terrorists.
