The new season of the Delhi Premier League 2026, which began on July 31st, has thoroughly entertained cricket fans in its first 10 days. The on-field thrills are accompanied by many interesting twists and turns. In this context, the old rivalry between Nitish Rana and Digvesh Rathi resurfaced in the match between West Delhi Lions and Old Delhi 6 on August 3rd.
It’s worth noting that these two players also engaged in a heated exchange during last year’s Eliminator match. Nitish Rana then dominated the proceedings, conceding 22 runs in a single over from Digvesh Rathi.
This is how Digvesh took his revenge
In the match on August 3, when West Delhi Lions came to bat first, their openers provided a solid start with a strong 90-run partnership. Nitish Rana came to the crease in the 10th over. Old Delhi 6 captain Anuj Rawat immediately handed over the responsibility of bowling the 11th over to Digvesh Rathi.
Although Ankit Kumar brought up his fifty off the third ball of Digvesh’s over, within the next two balls, Digvesh dismissed Nitish Rana LBW. Nitish was deceived while attempting a reverse sweep.
Digvesh Rathi usually performs his famous “notebook celebration” after taking a wicket, but this time he avoided controversy and celebrated in a very restrained manner. However, he did settle the score for last year. Nitish Rana, who was dismissed for just 3 runs off 4 balls, also did not react aggressively while leaving the field.
Easy win for Old Delhi 6
Batting first in the sixth match of the tournament, West Delhi Lions posted 180 runs. Opener Ankit Kumar scored a brilliant 86 off 45 balls, while wicketkeeper-batsman Krish Yadav made 43. However, West Delhi sluggishly struggled in the last five overs, managing only 28 runs.
Chasing a target of 181, Old Delhi 6 also had a poor start, losing Rohan Rana off the very first ball. Samarth Seth made 30 runs in 29 balls, but it was Dev Lakra who brought the real storm! Dev batted explosively, smashing 64 runs in just 33 balls and sharing a match-winning 94-run partnership with Samarth.
Captain Anuj Rawat and Lalit Yadav then added an unbeaten 73 off 39 balls to give the team an easy 7-wicket win.
Points table status
Following this match, both teams (West Delhi Lions and Old Delhi 6) have played two matches each, with one win each. Based on a better run rate, Old Delhi 6 are in fourth place in the points table, while West Delhi Lions have slipped to fifth.
