According to meteorologists, these states will experience not only rain but also strong winds with speeds of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour within the next 12 to 24 hours.
States like Gujarat and Assam are already reeling from severe flooding, and the new warning has increased the concern of both the administration and the general public. The IMD has clarified that heavy rainfall could trigger landslides in hilly areas and waterlogging in low-lying areas of the plains.
How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR today?
There’s some relief in store for the capital, Delhi, and surrounding areas. Between August 5th and 8th, Delhi will experience cloudy skies and light rain. The maximum temperature on August 5th is expected to be 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 23 degrees Celsius. While no specific warning has been issued for Delhi, intermittent showers will likely keep the weather pleasant.
How will the weather be in Uttar Pradesh?
The monsoon is showing its greatest activity in Uttar Pradesh. Several districts, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Prayagraj, have been warned of heavy rainfall from August 5th to 7th. Eastern Uttar Pradesh, in particular, may experience extremely heavy rainfall on August 5th.
Red alert like situation in Bihar
Heavy rain is also forecast in Bihar on August 5th and 6th, which is expected to raise river levels. Lightning and winds of up to 40 kilometers per hour are also forecast.
How will the weather be today in the hilly states?
Heavy rains will continue for the next five days in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Several districts in Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Nainital, and Almora, are expected to experience very heavy rainfall on August 5th. Continuous torrential rains have worsened the situation in Kerala, South India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in eight major districts of the state, including Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Wayanad, and Kannur. An orange alert has been declared in four districts and a yellow alert in two. Monsoon activity is also continuing in parts of Karnataka.
