Pakistan cricket surgery begins, PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi performs this masterstroke
Pakistan’s cricket team is currently going through a very bad phase. After being out of the Super-8 stage in the T20 World Cup 2026, the Pakistan team had to face a crushing defeat in the ODI and Test series in Bangladesh. Pakistan had lost 1-2 in the 3-match ODI series, while Bangladesh had defeated it in the 2-match Test series.
The Pakistan team recently tried to get back into form by winning the 3-match home ODI series against Australia 2-1. However, when the team was selected for the Asian Games on June 10, only T20 specialist players were selected. Players like Babar Azam, Salman Ali Aga, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan have been dropped. Sahibzada Farhan has been made the captain.
After surgery in the team, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has indicated another major change. Naqvi has contacted former players to improve the functioning of the board.

Only former players should look after cricket matters: Naqvi
Naqvi plans to include three to four former players in his advisory panel. He told reporters in Lahore on Sunday (June 14) that his advisory committee currently consists of three former players but he wants to include more former players in it.
Naqvi said, ‘I am meeting some former players in this regard, because I believe that decisions on matters related to cricket should be taken by those who have good knowledge of the game. I want these players, who are knowledgeable about cricket, to take decisions on issues related to the national team, cricket and matters related to domestic cricket.
