Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf faced the ire of Indian fans after his tweet on the Mohsin Naqvi controversy. India women’s team, led by Harmanpreet Kaurdidn’t take the trophy from the ACC head and Pakistan Cricket Board chief after beating Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup.
The move mirrored what the men’s team led by Suryakumar Yadav had done last year. Yousuf took to his X handle and wrote, “When national pride turns into arrogance, victory brings no reward. A team may win, but a nation without humility remains a loser! no trophy, only heels on heads.”

In the same tweet, he also added the hashtags Well Done and Mohsin Naqvi. That tweet didn’t sit well with the majority of the fans who called out the former batter.

India beat Sri Lanka by a massive margin to win their eighth Asia Cup title and also took revenge for their loss in the 2024 final. The ceremony was delayed by an hour. Sri Lanka players and the members of the support staff were given the runners-up medals and a cheque.
BCCI secretary insists both trophies will come back
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said that both the Men’s and Women’s Asia Cups will soon be in India’s possession. “Given the circumstances and the sentiments of the nation, BCCI felt that it would be right not to take the trophy from him (Mohsin Naqvi). If someone is adamant about not solving the problem, it’s their issue and not ours. We can suggest it, but we can’t force it. I can assure you that the BCCI is going to get back both trophies. I cannot give a timeline, but both trophies will be with us soon at the Mumbai headquarters.”
