Play a better test than this… Fans angry over Akshar Patel’s slow batting
Axar Patel’s poor performance with the bat continues in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Akshar could score only 11 runs in 22 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 51st match of the season on 8 May. Akshar came to the crease when the DC team had scored 85 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 10.1 overs. Pathum Nissanka had just been out after scoring 50 runs in 29 balls.
It was the responsibility of Akshar to manage the innings and also maintain the run rate. However, as soon as he arrived, Tristan Stubbs also left. DC’s score became 89/5. In such a situation, Akshar focused on saving wickets and not on scoring runs, but later he could not accelerate his innings. Akshar played more than 20 balls. But not a single boundary came from his bat. Due to his slow batting, DC could not reach a score worth fighting for, due to which he has come under the target of fans.

DC could score only 143 runs
When invited to bat first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, DC could score only 142 runs after losing 8 wickets. He got a good start from KL Rahul and Nissanka. Both of them made a partnership of 49 runs in 5 overs. DC seemed to reach the score of 200 but due to losing wickets at regular intervals, it stopped below 150. This is a do or die fight for DC. If it loses, its path to the playoffs will become very difficult.
