New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “Develop India Sankalp Abhiyaan for Drug-Free Youth” via video conferencing . This 100-week nationwide public participation campaign aims to inspire youth to stay away from drugs and empower them to be agents of positive change in society. As part of the campaign, awareness programs will be held every Sunday across the country.
Pledge of a developed India with ‘drug-free youth’
Launching the campaign, Prime Minister Modi said that there is immense power in collective efforts and this power will take this campaign to every youth of the country. He said that lakhs of youth have taken a pledge to stay away from drugs and this pledge will continue as a mass movement for the next 100 weeks. The Prime Minister said that the dream of a developed India will be realised only when the youth of the country are physically and mentally healthy, self-confident and free from deadly addictions like drugs.
Mentioned the strictness of the government
PM Modi stated that the central government is consistently taking strict action against the drug trade. He pointed out that arrests have been many times higher than before, and drugs worth thousands of crores of rupees have been seized. He said this is proof of the government’s zero -tolerance policy against drugs.
A special appeal was also made to parents
The Prime Minister appealed to families to seek timely help if a child becomes addicted to drugs, rather than hiding it. He said that parents should communicate openly with their children to help them navigate the right path before they go astray.
Told the youth the biggest threat of drugs
In his address, PM Modi told the youth that while drugs may provide temporary euphoria, they destroy careers, families, and futures. He urged them to channel their energy and potential and to seriously understand the dangers of drugs.

‘Enemy countries are targeting youth’
The Prime Minister said that the harm of drug addiction is not limited to one individual, but affects the entire family and the future of the country. He alleged that countries hostile to India conspire to weaken the country by luring youth into the trap of drugs. According to him, the money earned from drug trafficking often fuels terrorism and anti-national activities, so the entire society must unite to fight this threat.
