Lucknow, Read: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister Surya Ghar: Uttar Pradesh has increased the pace of domestic rooftop solar installation under the free electricity scheme. In August 2026, 73,716 new installations took place in the state. During this period, there was an average installation speed of 2,378 per day. With this, the cumulative number of domestic rooftop solar installations in the state has reached 7,92,959 till August.
Uttar Pradesh is currently in second place in terms of cumulative installations, but the strong pace recorded in August has put it in a strong position in the race for number one. According to the available data, the state is doing an average of about 780 more installations per day in August. If the current pace continues, it is estimated that UP may achieve the top position around the second week of October 2026.
The increase in August strengthened the claim
Under PM Surya Ghar Yojana, domestic consumers are being encouraged to adopt rooftop solar. The pace at which installations took place in Uttar Pradesh during August has taken the cumulative figure beyond 7.92 lakh. The average daily installation speed of the state is said to be among the fastest among the major states of the country. The government's focus is on expanding solar energy at the domestic level and meeting electricity needs from alternative energy sources. The continuously increasing installations are also expected to accelerate the expansion of the state's solar energy capacity.
