After winning the Baramati by-election, Sunetra Pawar gave up her Rajya Sabha seat to take up her responsibilities as an MLA in Maharashtra.

Voting took place on 23 April, and the results were announced on 4 May.
A total of 21 candidates took part in the election.
Major opposition parties like Indian National Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) did not field their candidates.
Although the Congress had initially announced a candidate, it later withdrew from the election.
3. Record breaking victory
Sunetra Pawar received an overwhelming 218,969 votes, and won by a landslide margin of 218,034 votes.
His nearest rival, New Rashtriya Samaj Party’s Prof. R.Y. Ghutukade got only 935 votes.
4. Heartfelt tribute to Ajit Pawar
Addressing the media in Mumbai after the results, Sunetra Pawar dedicated her victory to her late husband, Ajit Pawar.
He described this victory as a tribute to his legacy and expressed his deep gratitude to the people of Baramati for their trust.
5. Background of by-elections
The Baramati seat had fallen vacant after the untimely demise of Ajit Pawar in a plane crash on January 28.
Baramati, located in Pune district, has long been a political stronghold of the Pawar family.
After his demise, Sunetra Pawar was appointed the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
