A24 has released an official trailer for Primetime. The Chris Hansen biopic stars Robert Pattinson as the To Catch a Predator host, who launches an explosive and controversial news program investigating predators as part of Dateline NBC.
The logline reads, “In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.”

What happens in the Primetime trailer?
The Primetime trailer opens with a quad-view screen showing multiple angles of a house before cutting to hidden-camera footage. A girl lets a man into the house, and as he walks in, a figure, later revealed to be Robert Pattinson’s Chris Hansen, peers through a slightly open door.
Nervously, the man asks her, “Are you sure your parents aren’t home?” This is when Pattinson comes out of the shadows and reveals himself: “I’m Chris Hansen, with Dateline NBC. And we’re doing a story on adults who try to meet teens online. You see how this looks, right?”
The events of the A24 movie follow the real experiences the host had on his investigative journey. The trailer also explores Hansen’s behind-the-scenes struggles, portrayed by Pattinson.
Skyler Gisondo also appears as an actor auditioning to play one of the show’s decoy minors. As the trailer goes on, Gisondo’s character is shown to be doubtful about what he is doing. However, Pattinson’s Hansen grows more determined in his work. The host tells the actor, “What you’re doing here is more than acting; you’re cleaning the world of an ancient evil.” The trailer ends with a close-up of Pattinson, asking, “What would have happened if I wasn’t here?”
Lance Oppenheim is directing the movie, marking his feature film directorial debut. Besides Pattinson and Gisondo, the ensemble also includes Merritt Wever and Phoebe Bridgers.
A24 previously released an official poster for Primetime ahead of this trailer. The psychological biopic will have its world premiere in competition at the Venice International Film Festival.
Primetime will then open in theaters on September 25, 2026.
