Promotion of the film ‘Partition 1947’
Famous actor Sunny Deol recently spoke about his upcoming film ‘Partition 1947’, saying that it will teach audiences that humanity is paramount. He urged young people to watch the film to understand the human emotions of Partition.
Sunny Deol, along with his son Karan Deol and actress Preity Zinta, visited Lucknow to promote the film.
The film, scheduled for release on August 14th, is produced by Aamir Khan Productions. It is directed by National Award-winning director Rajkumar Santoshi and is based on the play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya O Jamyai Nai’ by renowned author Professor Asghar Wajahat.
The play means ‘He who has not seen Lahore has not been born,’ indicating that this film is different from Sunny’s 2001 hit film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.’ Sunny said that ‘Gadar’ was a love story, while ‘Partition 1947’ is a different story.
Sunny told reporters that ‘Gadar’ was a beautiful love story set during the Partition era, while ‘Partition 1947’ is based on a novel. He said, “If you liked the trailer, you will like the film too.”
Recalling his long association with Santoshi, Sunny said that their collaboration began with ‘Ghayal’ and continued with ‘Damini’ and ‘Ghaatak’.
He said, “Rajkumar Santoshi and I have done great work together. Our journey began with ‘Ghayal’, and now we are working on our fourth film.”
Sunny said that ‘Partition 1947’ is a film that all children and young people should watch. It depicts the events that happened to families during the Partition.
Preity Zinta said that “Partition 1947” is different from her 2004 film “Veer-Zaara,” even though both deal with India-Pakistan themes. She added that it is a family film.
Karan Deol said that working with his father was a dream come true. He said that Santoshi Ji gave him instructions during the film’s shooting.
“Partition 1947” also stars Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh and will release in theaters on August 14.
