Indian Railways RAC Bedroll Rules: The Railway Department has clearly stated that just as passengers with full seats receive bedrolls, RAC passengers should also be provided with this facility. It should be noted that until now, passengers with RAC seats were not provided with full bedrolls.
Bedroll facility will be available on AC RAC seats.
RAC Passengers Bedroll Facility: The Railways takes several important decisions from time to time, keeping passengers’ convenience in mind. This time, the Railways has decided to amend the rules related to AC coaches. The Railways has announced that it will also provide bedroll facilities to passengers with RAC seats in AC coaches. This new decision by the department will make passengers’ journeys easier and more comfortable.
RAC passengers did not get full facilities.
The Railway Department has clearly stated that just as passengers with full berths receive bedrolls, RAC passengers should also be provided with this facility. It should be noted that until now, passengers with RAC berths were not provided with full bedrolls. They were only provided with a sheet and pillow, and the attendant did not provide a blanket. However, with the implementation of the new rule, full bedrolls will now be available. The Railways has directed that this new rule be implemented as soon as possible.
Why did the Railways take this decision?
This significant step has been taken to address passenger difficulties that the Railways had been receiving repeated complaints about. The Railway Board received numerous complaints that passengers traveling on RAC seats were not provided with a full bedroll. Sometimes, two passengers had to share a single bedroll kit, leaving one without a blanket or a pillow. Passengers also expressed their anger to the Railway helpline regarding these problems.
Strict order of Railway Board
Taking these passenger concerns seriously, the Railway Board issued a new order to all zonal railways, including the NCR, on August 4, 2026. The Board clearly stated that every RAC passenger traveling in all AC classes (First, Second, and Third AC), except AC chair cars, should be provided with a separate complete bedroll kit (sheet, blanket, and pillow).
