NEW DELHI:
The North Central Railway has announced plans to operate more than 1,000 special train trips during the upcoming festive season to meet the expected surge in passenger traffic during Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath.
The additional services are aimed at providing more travel options and easing congestion on routes witnessing heavy demand during the festival period. The Railway authorities have released details of the special services, including routes and timings, to help passengers plan their journeys.
Several important routes connecting major cities and pilgrimage centres are being covered under the additional services. The move is part of the Railways’ preparations to handle the seasonal rush, particularly on routes linking northern India with major destinations.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest timetable and booking availability before planning their journeys, as the operation of special trains will be on specified dates.
The Railways has also been announcing additional services on individual routes. Among them are special services between Prayagraj and Tirunelveli to meet increased passenger demand between Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
