Women Maoists, who once walked under the shadow of guns and on the path of violence, but have now surrendered and joined the mainstream of the society, on the holy festival of Rakshabandhan, linked this sacred relationship with new human sensitivities by tying Raksha-Sutra on the wrists of soldiers and police officers in the DRG complex of Narayanpur Police.
This emotional moment was not limited to just celebrating Rakshabandhan, but it gave a deep message of changing Bastar and the unbreakable trust built between the security forces and the local society. During this program organized in the DRG premises, the surrendered sisters felt the affection, respect and pledge of protection towards themselves by tying Rakhi to Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Patel, Additional Superintendent of Police Akshay Sabadra, Ajay Kumar, Aishwarya Chandrakar and other senior officers.
People who were once living in an atmosphere of fear and conflict, were today seen sharing an intimate and family atmosphere with the police family. On this occasion, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Patel said that Rakshabandhan is not only a festival of love but also a pledge of trust and security. It is the collective responsibility of both the police and the society to give the people who have returned to the mainstream an opportunity to live a respectable life in the society and to strengthen the sense of security within them.
