Patna. Preparations have started to further strengthen the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Bihar. The state government has taken a big step to bring transparency in the ration distribution system and to deliver food grains to the people on time. Under this, the status of thousands of PDS shops in the state is being reviewed and instructions have been given to start the process of filling the vacant posts soon.

Preparation for appointment in 4000 PDS shops

There are vacancies in about 4000 PDS shops in the state. The government has asked to complete the appointment process for these shops soon. Officials have been instructed to select shopkeepers as per the rules and with complete transparency, so that deserving people can get the responsibility.

Action on negligence in ration distribution

The government has made it clear that any irregularities in the ration of poor beneficiaries will not be tolerated. If any complaint is received from any shop like low weight, irregular distribution, black marketing or not providing ration on time, then strict action will be taken against the concerned shopkeeper.

Grain will reach all eligible people

The Food Department has asked officials to ensure that every eligible beneficiary gets food grains in the right quantity and of good quality on time. The focus of the government is that there should not be any shortage in the ration distribution system at any level and people should get full benefits of the government scheme.

Monitoring of more than 55 thousand shops

The activity and functioning of all the PDS shops in the state is being reviewed. District officials have been instructed to conduct regular inspections and keep an eye on the system. Shops will be inspected by running a special campaign, so that any irregularities can be detected in time.
