Relief from pre-monsoon rain in Meerut, chances of monsoon till June 29
Pre-monsoon rain in Meerut has brought relief from the scorching heat. 62 mm of rain was recorded on Thursday night, due to which the temperature dropped. According to the Meteorological Department, rain may continue for the next few days, while monsoon is likely to reach around June 29.
Meerut: The first good pre-monsoon rain of June has given relief to people from the heat in Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh. After several days of intense heat, the weather suddenly took a turn, due to which a significant drop in temperature was recorded. The Meteorological Department says that pre-monsoon activities will continue for the time being, while the monsoon is expected to arrive around the scheduled time.
Clouds became kind for the first time in June
For the first time, good rains have been seen in Meerut during the month of June. The rain that started late on Thursday night completely changed the mood of the weather. People who have been suffering from scorching heat and humidity for many days have got great relief. According to the Meteorological Department data, 62 mm of rain was recorded overnight, which is considered to be one of the major rainfall events of this season.
The cold winds accompanied by rain brought the temperature down to a great extent. The weather remained pleasant till morning and people felt relief from the heat after a long time.
Big drop in temperature
The effect of rain was clearly visible on the temperature also. The maximum temperature had remained at or above 40 degrees Celsius for the last few days, but it dropped significantly after the rains. On Thursday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35.4 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 24.7 degrees Celsius.
Weather experts say that this change has been seen due to moist winds coming from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal and active western disturbance. This system can affect the weather in the area for the next few days.
When will monsoon reach Meerut?
Although after the rains, the curiosity about monsoon has increased in the minds of people, but according to the Meteorological Department, the normal time of arrival of monsoon in Meerut is considered to be June 29. The rain that is happening at present is part of pre-monsoon activities.
Experts say that the monsoon is currently progressing in different parts of the country, but fluctuations are being seen in its speed. In such a situation, it is not possible to make a completely definite prediction regarding the arrival of monsoon in Meerut. However, the Meteorological Department is hopeful that monsoon may reach western Uttar Pradesh around the scheduled time.
Farmers also get relief from rain
Not only the common people but also the farmers have got the benefit of pre-monsoon rains. According to agricultural experts, this rain will prove to be very beneficial for sugarcane, vegetables and fruit plants. The extreme heat of the last few days was becoming a matter of concern for the crops, but the rain has increased the moisture in the soil and provided relief to the plants.
This season is considered especially favorable for mango, litchi, lukat and other fruit crops. Farmers say that they were waiting for such rain for many days.
Pollution level also improved
Due to rain and strong winds, the air quality of Meerut has also improved. While the air quality index remained high in recent days, it has declined after the rains. Due to reduction in dust and pollutants present in the environment, people are also getting clean air.
Meteorologists believe that if the rain continues for the next two days, further improvement in both temperature and pollution may be seen.

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain, thunder and strong winds in Meerut and surrounding areas for the next two days. In such a situation, people may see continuous changes in the weather. At present, pre-monsoon activities have definitely provided relief from the heat, but now everyone’s eyes are on whether monsoon hits Meerut on time or not.
