Lucknow, Read: The Central Government's Parivartan scheme to control air pollution and protect the environment in the National Capital Region (NCR) has been implemented in eight districts of Uttar Pradesh. Under the scheme, vehicle owners will get many types of financial relief on replacing old trucks and buses of BS-1, BS-2, BS-3 and BS-4 categories with BS-6 diesel, CNG or electric vehicles. The scheme will be effective in Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Hapur, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli.
Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh said that if the old vehicle is scrapped, the vehicle owner will get a Certificate of Deposit (COD). On the basis of this, 100 percent rebate in vehicle tax and registration fee will be given on purchasing a new BS-6 vehicle. There will also be 100 percent exemption in road tax for 10 years.
50 percent relief in road tax on old BS-6 vehicle
Those purchasing old BS-6 vehicles have also been given benefits under the scheme. Such vehicles will get 50 percent discount in road tax. On scrapping the old vehicle and purchasing a BS-6 vehicle in its place, the outstanding revenue of more than one year will also be completely waived off.
Five percent loan subsidy and fuel voucher for five years: There is a provision to give five percent loan subsidy to vehicle owners on the purchase of BS-6 vehicles. Apart from this, fuel vouchers will also be provided for five years. Vehicle manufacturers will also be able to give a maximum discount of up to eight percent on the purchase of new BS-6 vehicles.
Incentive up to Rs 2.56 lakh on EV purchase
Under the Parivartan scheme, special incentives have also been arranged for those purchasing electric vehicles. On the purchase of EV vehicles, a lump sum incentive ranging from Rs 64 thousand to Rs 2.56 lakh will be given depending on the vehicle.
Scheme helpful in reducing pollution
Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said that promoting clean fuel and electric vehicles by phasing out old polluting vehicles will help in reducing air pollution in NCR. He appealed to the vehicle owners of NCR to take advantage of the Central Government scheme by scrapping old trucks and buses of BS-1 to BS-4 category. This scheme will not only make the area pollution free and environment friendly, it will also benefit the health of the people.
