Actor and model Rohullah Mehdi, who featured in Shahid Kapoor-starrer Deva, has been arrested in Mumbai in connection with an alleged narcotics network, according to an NDTV report. The Kashimira Police Crime Branch reportedly seized 28 grams of MD, valued at approximately Rs 5.60 lakh, during the operation.
Mehdi has been named as the main accused in FIR No. 437/2026, with police investigating whether the alleged operation extends beyond the two people arrested so far. The actor was produced before a court and has been sent to five days of police custody.
How Did Police Arrest Rohullah Mehdi?
According to the police account cited by NDTV, investigators received information about the alleged sale of MD through social media platforms including Snapchat and WhatsApp. A decoy operation was then reportedly planned.
A man identified as Kasif was allegedly called near Thakur Mall in the Dahisar Check Naka area to deliver 28 grams of MD. Police arrested him during the alleged transaction and, during questioning, he reportedly named Mehdi.
Investigators subsequently arrested Mehdi outside a studio in Malad, where he was shooting.
Who Is Rohullah Mehdi?
Mehdi is reportedly from Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir and had been living in Goregaon, Mumbai. He has worked as an actor and model and appeared in the 2025 Hindi film Deva, which starred Shahid Kapoor in the lead role. Reports also say he has appeared in web series.
Police Probe Possible Wider Drug Network
The investigation is now focused on allegedly tracing the network, including finding out whether Mehdi supplied drugs to other people. Police are also examining whether anyone else from the film industry could have links to the case.
The operation was conducted by the Kashimira Police team under the supervision of DCP Zone-1 Rahul Chavan. Police have indicated that the investigation remains ongoing and that further names could emerge.
