Sanjay Dutt has spoken about the people who have stood by him through different phases of his life, praising wife Maanayata Dutt for her support and discussing how his relationship with daughter Trishala has evolved over the years.
During a recent conversation with Shekhar Suman, Sanjay revealed that he is 20 years older than Maanayata. Recalling how they met, the actor said, “She tells me that I saw her when she was still in a pram. I am 20 years older than her. We met, and we eventually courted.”
The actor also credited Maanayata for standing by him during difficult times, including his time in jail. Comparing her dedication to that of his late mother, actor Nargis, he said, “After my mother (actor Nargis), she is the only one I have seen who stands like a rock. Be it jail or anything else, she is always there with me.”
Sanjay and Maanayata married in February 2008 and welcomed twins in October 2010.
Sanjay also discussed his relationship with Trishala, his daughter from his first marriage to late actor Richa Sharma. Now 38, Trishala lives in New York, where she works on projects Sanjay described positively.
The conversation also brought back memories of Richa, whom Shekhar recalled working with in the 1986 film Anubhav.
Sanjay acknowledged that he and Trishala had experienced a period of distance, partly because of the legal case he was facing and other circumstances. “We were disconnected from each other in between. It happened due to many reasons, including my case that was going on here,” he said.
However, the actor expressed happiness about how their relationship has developed. “I have seen a massive change in her. I am very proud of her,” he added
