Sanju Samson kept out of Zimbabwe tour, Rinku-Mayank return, selectors have great faith in youth

New Delhi . The Indian team for the three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe to be held this month was announced on July 6 (Monday). The Indian selectors have announced a 15-member team for this tour, the command of which has been handed over to Shreyas Iyer. Tilak Verma will remain the vice-captain.

The selectors have placed a big bet on the experienced players as well as the youth for this tour. Three T20 International matches between India and Zimbabwe will be played in Harare on 23, 25 and 26 July. Let us look at 5 big things related to team selection for Zimbabwe tour.

Sanju Samson ‘rested’, Prabhsimran gets place

Sanju Samson’s name is not in the Indian team announced for the Zimbabwe tour. His absence is one of the biggest discussions of team selection. It is believed that the selectors have given rest to Sanju Samson from this series keeping in mind the continuous cricket and workload. Although Sanju Samson plays for the Indian team in only one format, his not being selected is a very surprising decision.




    • In place of Sanju Samson, Prabhsimran Singh has got a place in the squad as a wicketkeeper batsman. Prabhasimran had earlier been a part of the Indian team during the Asian Games 2023, but he did not get a chance to play in a single match then. In such a situation, if he gets a place in the playing eleven on the Zimbabwe tour, then he would like to leave his mark in international cricket. Ishan Kishan is included in the squad as the first choice wicketkeeper.

    Rinku Singh’s wait is over

    Explosive batsman Rinku Singh has returned to the Indian T20 team. Apart from the tour of Ireland and England, Rinku was also not able to make a place in the Indian team for the Asian Games 2026.
