Shamli: Father-stepmother murdered daughter, hanged the body

A sensational murder case that has put relations to shame has come to light from Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. In Kandhla town, an attempt was made to blame the neighbors for the death of 18-year-old Hina by making it look like murder followed by suicide, but police investigation, post-mortem report and scientific evidence changed the whole story. According to the police, due to doubt over the daughter’s character and fear of alleged family disgrace, the father and stepmother strangled her to death.

The body was hanged from the fan to make it look like suicide and a conspiracy was hatched to implicate innocent people. Both the accused have been arrested in the case and action has been taken under serious sections including murder and destruction of evidence. On July 1, the body of 18-year-old Hina was found hanging from the fan in the room in Mohalla Ilyas Nagar of Kandhla town of Shamli. In the initial complaint, father Ahsan had accused the neighboring youth Akram and his companion of breaking into the house and murdering him and hanging the body. The police registered a case and started investigation, but as the investigation progressed, the whole matter turned upside down.

Post mortem report revealed the whole story

The post mortem report made it clear that Hina died not by hanging but by strangulation. After this the police matched the incident site, circumstantial evidence and the statements of the family. When many contradictions came to light, the police’s suspicion went straight to the family and the scope of the inquiry was expanded.

Father and stepmother revealed the truth during interrogation

According to Superintendent of Police NP Singh, during strict interrogation, the accused father Ahsan and his second wife Gufrana revealed the murder conspiracy. According to the police, after the death of his first wife in 2020, Ahsan married for the second time in 2021. The stepmother used to oppose Hina’s conversation with a young man and doubted his character. For this reason both of them planned the murder.

First strangled, then hanged the body from the fan

According to the police, both the younger sons had been sent to the madrassa on the day of the incident. Hina was alone in the house. Meanwhile, the step mother held her legs, while the father first strangled her with a scarf and then strangled her to death with his hands. After death, both of them hung the body from the fan so that it looked like a suicide.

A conspiracy was also hatched to trap the neighbors

After the murder, the father raised an alarm and accused the neighboring youth Akram and an unknown person of murder. Not only this, according to the police, he also tried to get the deceased’s maternal grandfather to lodge a complaint against the same people, so that the direction of the investigation could be changed and suspicion would not fall on the family. As the investigation progressed and police pressure increased, both the accused locked the house and went to relatives’ place in Kairana. During interrogation it also came to light that they were preparing to flee to Punjab or Haryana, but before that the police arrested both of them.
