Indian stock markets closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Nifty 50 closing below 24,500. The Sensex closed down 388.19 points, or 0.49 percent, at 78,154.25, while the Nifty 50 was down 112.10 points, or 0.46 percent, at 24,471.70.
