According to the British Army's UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) centre, the attack damaged the ship's engine room and resulted in the loss of one crew member. However, till now no country or organization has taken responsibility for the attack.
The situation is not clear regarding the death or injury of a member on board the ship.
UKMTO has not shared detailed information related to the ship and its cargo. It was also not immediately clear whether the casualty crew member had died or been injured.
Oman's coast guard is assisting other crew members on board. Investigation into the incident has been started. At present, no environmental damage has been reported in the sea.

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital sea route for global energy supplies. Before the war, about one-fifth of the world's seaborne oil trade passed through this route. In such a situation, disruption of ship movement here could have a major impact on the global oil market and energy supply.

According to the report, Iran effectively closed the strait following the attacks by Israel and the US on February 28. At the same time, America is also imposing a blockade to stop the movement of Iranian ships.

Iran said on Monday that the two countries were working on the final details of a plan to issue a joint statement on arrangements related to the strait.

Meanwhile, a sharp reaction has reportedly come from US President Donald Trump regarding Oman. According to the report, during a phone conversation with Fox News journalist Trey Yingst, Trump reportedly warned that America could attack Oman if it becomes an obstacle in the way.
