Automobile Desk: If you are planning to buy a new Skoda car in the Indian automobile market, then now you may have to loosen your pocket a bit. The company has made a formal announcement of increasing the prices of its various vehicles. This increase in prices will come into effect from October 1, 2026. According to the company's decision, there will be an increase of up to 1.2 percent in the prices of cars depending on different models and their variants. The automaker says that this step has to be taken due to the increasing cost of raw materials used in the manufacturing of vehicles and operational expenses.
This decision has come at a time when the company is going through strong sales in the Indian market. Last year i.e. 2025 was historic for Skoda India, where the company registered record sales of 72,655 units on an annual basis. This pace has not stopped even in the year 2026. In the first half (H1) of the current financial year, the company achieved its best ever sales figures. Statistics show that by August 2026, the company has sold more than 50,000 vehicles in India, which shows an increase of more than 8 percent compared to the same period last year. Made-in-India vehicles like Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia have been the biggest contributors to the company's success in India. The company has so far sold more than 2.5 lakh locally assembled vehicles in the country, out of which the number of Kailak alone has crossed 75 thousand. To ease its reach to customers, the company has also worked on network expansion, due to which today more than 345 touchpoints are active in 193 cities of the country.
Amidst this noise of price increase, a big and good news is also coming out for sedan lovers. The company is going to launch the new facelift avatar of its popular premium sedan Slavia in the market. This car is scheduled to be officially launched on 6 October 2026. Interested customers can book it in advance by depositing a token amount of Rs 15,000.
The new Slavia facelift will see many major changes at the visual and cosmetic level. To give a new look to the front and rear profile, it has been given completely new designed headlamps, taillamps and refreshed bumpers. New 16-inch alloy wheels have been added to give the side profile a spotty look. Also bringing freshness to the color palette, the company has included two new shades – Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige.
Talking about interior and cabin features, the new Slavia will feel more tech-savvy and comfortable than before. A 10.1-inch advanced touchscreen infotainment system will be visible on the dashboard which is equipped with better interface and graphics. A 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster has been provided for the driver. To make the journey more comfortable, seat massage function has been added for rear passengers, while features like ventilation and power adjustment have been retained in the front seats. Apart from this, support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay also makes the cabin experience premium.
On the mechanical front, the 2026 Slavia will continue to be offered with the existing petrol engine options. The first one is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates power of 115 bhp, and the second is a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates power of 150 bhp. The biggest update in transmission will be seen in the models with 1.0-litre engine, where a new 8-speed automatic gearbox option has now been made available along with 6-speed manual. At the same time, the combination of 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox will continue in the more powerful 1.5-litre engine as before.
