Do the cleaning
Clean green vegetables before storing them. Greens are prone to a lot of dirt and insects so they should be washed immediately after bringing them home. Drain the vegetables and rinse them with water and then spread them out to dry. Note, leafy greens should be consumed within two to three days otherwise they may spoil.
Use of paper towels
The second step is to wash and dry the vegetables, wrap them in a paper towel and keep them in the fridge. This paper will protect the vegetables from moisture in the refrigerator and keep them cool so they don’t spoil. The use of newspaper to wrap vegetables should be avoided as there is a possibility of the components of the printed ink mixing with the vegetables which may pose a health hazard.
