New Delhi: Social activist and environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk has once again started preparations for the movement regarding the issues of Ladakh. He has announced to take out a padyatra in Ladakh between 19th and 24th September. Wangchuk has appealed to people across the country to support this campaign. His announcement has also been supported by Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Deepke.
The announcement came after the meeting with the Center
According to Wangchuk, in the meeting held with the Home Ministry on September 9, no concrete assurance was received on the issues related to the future and administration of Ladakh. Their main demand is that until a democratic system is established in Ladakh, the current administration should not take major decisions related to land allocation and local administration. He says that such important decisions should be taken in the future with the democratic structure and participation of local representatives.
If assurance is not given within a week then big protest
Sonam Wangchuk has said that if the government gives clear assurance regarding their demands within a week, then the padyatra from 19 to 24 September will be seen as a positive and memorable campaign. At the same time, if no concrete assurance is received then it has been said that it will be given the form of a nationwide demonstration. His emphasis is on democratic representation in Ladakh, local participation and preservation of the nature and culture of the region.
Abhijeet Deepke supported
After Sonam Wangchuk's appeal, CJP founder Abhijit Deepke also raised his voice in support of her campaign. He has appealed to the people to stand with Ladakh. Even before this, Deepke has been coming out in support of Wangchuk in movements related to Ladakh.
Emphasis on rights and democratic system of Ladakh
Wangchuk has long been demanding constitutional protection for Ladakh, political participation of local people and protection of the environmental and cultural identity of the region. Even in the current campaign, his emphasis is on ensuring the voice and democratic representation of the local people in major decisions related to Ladakh.
