Kanpur. Today, on 3.09.2026, under the Safe City Mission, a special checking, awareness and enforcement campaign was conducted with the aim of ensuring the safety of women and girls in public transport. This campaign was implemented in accordance with the decisions taken in the seminar held on 01.09.2026.
During the campaign, intensive checking of autos, e-rickshaws, taxis, buses and other public transport vehicles was done. Documents, permits, fitness, number plates, driver verification and other necessary safety standards of the vehicles were checked. Besides, black films, black boards or other illegal materials that affect visibility on vehicles were removed, so that effective monitoring and safety of women and children could be ensured in public transport.
Under the campaign, verification of drivers and conductors of public transport will also be done. For this, the details will be compiled at the concerned police stations through the prescribed 20 point proforma and matched with the records and the criminal history will be verified through CCTNS and DCRB. Drivers and conductors were given necessary guidelines regarding respectful and sensitive behavior towards women, following traffic rules and immediately informing the police about any suspicious activity or incident related to women and child safety. especially school-college going
Emphasis was laid on making public transport safe and accessible for girl students and working women. If violations of rules and prescribed standards were found during checking, challans and necessary enforcement action were taken against the concerned vehicles as per rules. Officers and employees were instructed to do regular checking of public transport vehicles and to exercise special vigilance at points related to women and child safety. Traffic police officers/employees including Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Headquarters/CAW Sneha Tiwari and other concerned police officers/employees were present during the campaign.
