The new transformer could not last even for 15 days, then got burnt. Barsha Gaharwa – Villagers in darkness for a week, electricity department employees are hesitant in even picking up the phone.

Mirzapur. Serious questions have been raised on the arrangements of the electricity department in Barsa Gaharwa village of Drummondganj area. According to the villagers, the transformer, which had been in use for less than 15 days, got burnt again and has been lying defunct for the last one week. Due to burning transformer, the electricity supply of the village is disrupted and the villagers are living in darkness and facing a lot of problems in their daily tasks.

The villagers allege that information about burning of the transformer is being continuously given to the responsible employees of the electricity department, but instead of solving the problem, the responsible employees are allegedly not even picking up the phone. Villagers say that when the new transformer could not run even for 15 days and got burnt again, it is natural to raise questions on its quality and the monitoring of the electrical system.

There is a lot of anger among the villagers towards the department due to the electricity supply being disrupted for a week. Due to lack of electricity, water problems in homes, children's education and other important work are getting affected. Villagers say that even after complaining, if the responsible employees do not pick up the phone and do not reach the spot and solve the problem, then where should the villagers go with their problems.

The villagers have taken cognizance of the matter from the higher officials and demanded immediate replacement of the transformer and restoration of power supply. Besides, a demand has also been made to investigate the causes of transformer burning again within 15 days and its quality and also to investigate the functioning of the employees who did not pick up the phone despite complaints. Now it remains to be seen how long the department will save the villagers of Barsa Gaharwa from darkness.
