Stock Market Closed: Stock market closed with slight decline amid global uncertainty, Sensex fell 114 points, Nifty stable
Mumbai. There was a slight decline in the local stock market in volatile trading on Thursday amid withdrawal of foreign funds and global uncertainty. Due to cautious attitude of investors, Sensex fell by 114 points, while Nifty closed with almost stable trend. After fluctuating during trading, the 30-share Sensex of BSE finally closed at 77,844.52 points, falling 114 points or 0.15 percent.
At one time during trading it reached a high of 78,384.70 points and came down to a low of 77,713.21 points. A fluctuation of 671.49 points was seen in Sensex. Whereas the 50-share NSE Nifty closed at 24,326.65 points with a slight loss of 4.30 points or 0.02 percent. Hindustan Unilever, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Titan, Sun Pharma and ITC fell among Sensex stocks.
On the other hand, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Tata Steel were among the gainers. Global oil benchmark Brent crude stood at $99 per barrel with a loss of 2.23 per cent. “Indian stock markets remained almost stable as investors await Iran’s response to the US peace proposal,” said Ponmudi R, CEO of online trading company Enrich Money. Nifty closed with almost stable trend.” According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 5,834.90 crore on Wednesday.
In other Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi, Japan’s Nikkei, China’s Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were among the gainers. European markets were down in afternoon trading. US markets closed with gains on Wednesday. Gaurav Garg, research analyst at Lemon Markets Desk, said, “Indian stock markets closed today in a slightly cautious environment.
The market remained under pressure due to continuous withdrawal of foreign investors and weak global cues. Geopolitical uncertainties have also affected investor confidence, impacting risk appetite. Sensex on Wednesday closed at 77,958.52, up 940.73 points or 1.22 per cent, while Nifty was up 298.15 points or 1.24 per cent at 24,330.95.
