Ingredients
For the Pie Crust
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 100 g cold butter, cubed
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2–3 tablespoons cold water
For the Filling
- 500 g minced beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup crème fraîche or sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Tex-Mex cheese
- 1 tomato, chopped
- ½ cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
How to Make Tacopaj
Step 1: Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, salt, and butter until crumbly. Add cold water gradually to form a dough. Press the dough into a greased pie dish and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes. Bake at 200°C for about 10–12 minutes until lightly golden.
Step 2: Heat a pan and sauté the onion and garlic until soft. Add the minced beef and cook until browned. Stir in the taco seasoning and water, then simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
Step 3: Spread the beef mixture evenly over the baked pie crust. Spoon the crème fraîche over the meat, then top with chopped tomatoes, jalapeños, and shredded cheese.
Step 4: Bake the pie for another 20–25 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.
