Let's break it down. Goa College of Home Science is going to launch a certificate course in this subject. If all goes well, this course will probably be launched next December. College students will participate in it. Various lessons will be given regarding understanding, adapting to each other while in marital relationship. Why the idea of suddenly launching such a course at the college level? In fact, like all over the world, the number of divorces is increasing gradually in Goa. What almost everyone thinks. And that is why Chief Minister Pramod Sawant himself has announced the launch of such courses. It is believed that due to proper pre-marriage counseling it will be possible to prevent separation in future couples. That's why the idea of launching this course.
It is known that such subjects have been taught in Goa College since 2007. But the certificate course is new. Professor Nadisha Coelho said, “This type of course has been thought of to prevent the complications of relationships and the increase of separation.” According to the data, at least 3,000 divorce cases have been registered in Goa courts from 2022 to 2025. Among them there are many couples who may have married each other out of love. According to the professor, it has been observed in many cases that due to lack of emotional maturity, many young couples decide to break up hastily. He hopes that if this certificate course is taken before marriage, the complications of married life may seem comparatively less.
