The face of Kanpur will change before Diwali: Target to repair 500 roads in 20-25 days, DM-City Commissioner descended at night

Kanpur. The district administration has now increased the pace to bring the bad roads and cleanliness system of Kanpur back on track before Diwali and Dussehra. Late on Tuesday night, District Magistrate Mahendra Singh Tanwar, Municipal Commissioner Arpit Upadhyay and Chief Development Officer Abhinav Jain along with the joint team of Administration, Municipal Corporation and Public Works Department conducted night inspection of various parts of the city. The officials observed the ground situation of roads, sanitation and waste management and directed the concerned departments to take timely action.

Ultimatum to repair the roads in 20 to 25 days-

During the inspection, it came to light that the Public Works Department has identified about 73 roads for repair and improvement work. The Municipal Corporation has made preparations to start repair and necessary layering work on about 500 roads. The District Magistrate directed both the departments to work in mutual coordination and complete the road improvement work in the next 20 to 25 days, before Diwali.

Public Works Department officials said that it is proposed to start operation of the hot mix plant in the next three days. After this, strengthening work on the identified roads will be expedited.

If there is delay in work then responsibility will be fixed

The District Magistrate clarified that lack of departmental coordination in road improvement work will not be accepted under any circumstances. Municipal Corporation and Public Works Department should complete the work keeping their respective scope and responsibilities clear. He instructed not to compromise in any way with the quality of work and the stipulated deadline.
