Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has made preparations to purchase maize, millet and jowar from farmers in the Kharif marketing year 2026-27. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that farmers selling crops should be paid within 48 hours. A total of 455 purchasing centers will be created in the state for government procurement.
MSP fixed for crops
The government has set the minimum support price of millet at Rs 2,900 per quintal, maize at Rs 2,410 and jowar at Rs 4,023 to 4,073 per quintal. The price of Maldandi jowar will be Rs 4,073 and that of hybrid jowar will be Rs 4,023 per quintal.
Target and center of purchase
300 centers have been earmarked for purchasing millet, 75 for maize and 80 for sorghum. The government has set a target to purchase 2.20 lakh metric tonnes of millet, 15 thousand metric tonnes of maize and 50 thousand metric tonnes of sorghum. Procurement of millet is proposed in 33 districts and procurement of maize is proposed in 25 districts. The list released for jowar includes 13 districts; It is necessary to confirm the official information regarding the number of districts.
Money will come into Aadhaar linked account
The payment will be sent directly to the Aadhaar linked bank accounts of the farmers. To make the procurement process transparent, biometric verification will be done through e-pop device at the purchasing centres. In case of any problem, farmers can contact toll free number 18001800150.
These crops will be purchased till 31st December
The period of government procurement has been fixed till 31 December 2026. Farmers are advised to obtain necessary information related to registration and verification before reaching the center with their produce, so that there is no problem in purchase and payment.
