Theo James breaks silence on James Bond speculations

Theo James has ruled himself out of becoming the next James Bond.

The role is currently held by no one after Daniel Craig stepped down from the role after his 2021 starrer No Time to Die.

Many names were being tipped as possible candidates for the movie and Theo was one of them.

The Gentleman star admitted he is “definitely too old” to take on the iconic 007 role.

James says he would be wary of taking on a part that could completely transform his life.

“I’m definitely too old now, for one,” James told GQ. “But, yeah, that would be an example of a place you could never come back from.”

The actor also admitted that the fame and scrutiny that comes with playing Bond would make him think twice about accepting the role, even if the opportunity arose.

“Imagine, suddenly, you and I cannot walk down the street,” he said. “What that does to your children, who are trying to find themselves in the midst of hyper-scrutiny and fame. None of that, to me, is worth it.”

Dune director Denis Villeneuve is attached to direct the next Bond movie, with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight writing the screenplay.
