In Uttar Pradesh, instead of limiting students to only bookish education, the Yogi government has taken a big initiative in connecting them with employable skills right from the school level. More than 3 thousand students studying in Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas of the Social Welfare Department will now be given vocational training in various fields along with studies. Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has completed preparations for training under 'Project Praveen' in the financial year 2026-27 and the responsibility for this has been entrusted to 31 training provider institutions of the state.
It is mandatory to start training by 30th September
It has been made mandatory to start training at all centers by 30th September. State Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Kapil Dev Aggarwal said that the objective of 'Project Praveen' is to connect students with school education with such skills which can prepare them for further employment, self-employment and better career opportunities. Based on their interest and available training, students will be given training in various employable areas including Apparel, IT-ITES, Management.
Confidence will increase in students
He said that under the skill development policy of the Yogi government, this initiative will prove important in the direction of education to skill and skill to employment. By getting practical training at the school level itself, students' self-confidence will increase and their skills will develop according to future needs. To maintain the quality of training, the Mission has set a maximum limit of 35 students in a batch. The total duration of training will be up to 300 hours, so that skill training can be given to the students without affecting their regular school studies. The Mission has made arrangements for monitoring at many levels to ensure transparency and quality in the training system.
Students can be trained
Training providers will have to submit the contract to the mission headquarters and get it confirmed. Only after this will the District Program Management Unit (DPMU) of the concerned district be allowed to form the batch. Before starting the training, the relevant job role will be verified on the National Council of Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) and National Qualification Register (NQR) portal. Students can be trained only in valid and recognized job roles. Only those batches and sectors will be approved on the portal, which have been allotted to the concerned training institute.
Will conform to prescribed standards
The training providers will have to provide the necessary study material to the students within seven days of the start of the batch. It will also be mandatory to upload signed receipt and photographs of receiving the material on the mission portal. The curriculum and evaluation of training will be as per the standards set by the respective Sector Skill Council. Payment for training will also be made as per the prescribed common cost norms. Mission Director Pulkit Khare has instructed the training providers to complete all the processes as per the prescribed timelines and rules.
He said that the priority of the Mission is to ensure that training is not limited to paper only, but students actually acquire useful and quality skills. Khare said that through 'Project Praveen', efforts are being made to make students proficient in skills along with school education. Skill training in school itself will increase their self-confidence and they will become more capable for future employment and better career opportunities.
