Duleep Trophy Final: South Zone, captained by Tilak Verma, has made it to the finals of Duleep Trophy 2026. South Zone has entered the final of Duleep Trophy by defeating North Zone by 7 wickets on the fourth day in the second semi-final match. Now Tilak Verma's team will face East Zone, where the team will be seen playing under the leadership of Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The final match of Duleep Trophy 2026-27 will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from 6th October.

South Zone made it to the finals

The second semi-final match of Duleep Trophy was played between South Zone and North Zone. In this match, North Zone team scored 195 runs after losing 10 wickets in 59.1 overs in the first innings. In response, South Zone scored 312 runs in the first innings after losing 10 wickets in 100.3 overs. South Zone took a lead of 117 runs over North Zone on the basis of first innings.

North Zone scored 279 runs at the loss of 10 wickets in 72.4 overs in the second innings. With this, South Zone got the target of 181 runs to win in the fourth innings. Tilak Verma's South Zone achieved this target by scoring 182 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 43.1 overs and won the match by 7 wickets and made it to the finals.

Final will be held in South Zone and East Zone

With the victory of South Zone, it was decided between which two teams the final match of Duleep Trophy 2026 will be held. Now the final match will be played between South Zone and East Zone from 6th October. East Zone had made it to the finals by defeating Central Zone under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar. Now South Zone has also reached the finals. The clash between these two teams will now take place in Tamil Nadu. Where the match between the two will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Tilak Verma created a stir with the bat

South Zone captain Tilak Verma played a century innings of 116 runs with 9 fours in 250 balls in the first innings. After this, in the second innings, he remained unbeaten and played a half-century inning of 51 runs with 8 fours in 79 balls. He remained unbeaten and the winning shot came from his bat itself. Apart from this, Kapi also looked brilliant under Tilak captaincy. He used his bowlers properly.

These players also made excellent contribution

Apart from Tilak, Shreyas Gopal played an inning of 87 runs with the bat for the team. In the second inning, Ricky Bhui scored 42 runs and N Jagadeesan scored 43 runs. Vidwath Kavarappa took 4 wickets with the ball in the first innings and MD Nidhish took 5 wickets in the second innings.

In the first innings for North Zone, Kamran Iqbal played an inning of 76 runs in 182 balls with 10 fours and 1 six. In the second innings, Sanat Sangwan contributed 76 runs and Ayush Doseja contributed 52 runs. With the ball, Gurnoor Brar took 4 and 1 wicket in the first innings. Whereas Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets in the first innings.
