New Delhi: A case of knife attack on tourist guide Manish Soni has come to light in Mawatha area near Amer Palace in Jaipur. Manish, who was seriously injured in the attack on Monday, died during treatment at SMS Hospital on Tuesday. As soon as the news of his death reached Amer, there was anger among the people. Local residents, traders and guide community closed the markets in protest and started demonstrating demanding strict action against the accused.
What time did the dispute start?
According to the police, there was a dispute regarding the movement of vehicles near Mawatha at around 10 am on Monday morning. It is being told that Manish was stopping the vehicles going towards Amer Fort. During this time, he had an altercation with the jeep driver Azam. As the dispute escalated, Azam and his associate Nazish allegedly attacked Manish with a knife.

Manish suffered serious stomach injury in the attack and he fell down injured on the spot. After this he was taken to SMS Hospital in Jaipur for treatment. Doctors tried to save him, but he died on Tuesday due to excessive bleeding and severe injuries.
Market closed, demonstration outside the police station
As soon as the news of Manish's death was received, protests intensified in Amer. A large number of people gathered outside Amer police station and expressed their anger against the police administration. In view of the demonstration, traffic has been diverted on the road leading to Amer Palace. Additional police force is deployed in the area and people are being appealed to maintain peace.
Both accused in custody
According to Amer police station officer Rajendra Godara, the police have taken into custody the main accused jeep driver Azam and his partner Nazish. Both are being interrogated. Police are trying to recover the knife used in the crime. According to the police, two cases are already registered against Azam in Amer police station.
The family made many demands
Manish's family members and local people have put forward many demands before the administration including compensation, government job and strict action against the accused. The protesters have demanded bulldozer action on the house of the accused, trial of the case in fast track court and a ban on illegal jeep operation in Amer. Apart from this, demand for action against the SHO and the investigating officer and providing security to the victim's family has also been raised.
