The US Department of Home Affairs has imposed sanctions on two Mumbai-based firms SSPL Solutions Pvt Ltd and Samudra Marine Services Pvt Ltd. Dhvani and Nisarga Vora of SSPL Solutions and three persons of Samudra Marine Services — Ketan Kochikar, Bhupendra Singh Sahu and Harishyam Hariharan Chundakattil — have also been ordered to refrain from any dealings with their respective firms.

In a statement, the Trump administration said, “These actions against Indian entities and individuals are part of tougher US sanctions against Iran under 'Operation Economic Outcast'.”

The US Department of the Interior claims that Indian companies have channeled millions of dollars to the Iranian government by purchasing fuel. This has strengthened one of the country's main sources of income, allowing them to continue their illegal activities. “The US government is imposing sanctions on both buyers and sellers involved in the trade of Iranian petrochemical products,” the Trump administration said in a statement. Also, 'Samudra Marine Services' has been given time to wrap up all transactions with Iran by October 23.
