TVS Motor Company : 8% growth! Two-wheeler sales at 4.55 lakh units
TVS Motor Company has announced the sales figures for the month of April 2026, and it is clear that the overall positive growth in the company’s performance is evident. Although the company has recorded steady growth in domestic as well as international markets, challenging conditions have also been observed in some segments.

Domestic two-wheeler sales reached 3,48,545 units in April 2026. This is an increase of about 8 percent compared to 3,23,647 units in April 2025. This growth is indicative of growing demand in the Indian market and the company’s strong distribution network. This results in increased demand for two-wheelers, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.
The company’s total two-wheeler sales (domestic and exports combined) stood at 4,55,333 units, registering a growth of 6 percent over last year’s 4,30,150 units. In this, total sales including three-wheelers reached 4,73,970 units, an increase of 7 percent. This shows that the overall market presence of the company is strong.
The scooter segment has been the biggest ‘star performer’ of the month. Scooter sales reached 2,11,158 units in April 2026, up a whopping 24 percent from 1,69,741 units in April 2025. Increasing demand in urban areas, fuel efficient models and attractive designs are believed to have boosted scooter sales.
Apart from this, the company has also performed impressively in the electric vehicle (EV) segment. EV sales grew by 36 percent to 37,771 units. Due to increasing environmental awareness and government incentive schemes, the demand for electric vehicles is seen to be steadily increasing. This department will be important for the company in future as well.
However, there has been a decline in the motorcycle segment. Motorcycle sales stood at 2,00,039 units in April 2026, down from 2,20,347 units last year. The company cited supply chain constraints, production constraints and market competition as the main reasons behind this decline.
According to the company, there were some significant issues affecting the product. These include manpower shortages, raw material shortages and delays in international shipments. All these factors created bottlenecks in the production and dispatch process. However, the company has expressed its expectation to improve production from May.

The company has also recorded steady growth in terms of international business. Export sales grew by 3 percent to 1,20,008 units. There are indications that the company is expanding its presence in markets such as Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Also, the three-wheeler segment has taken a big leap and recorded a 37 percent increase in sales. Three-wheeler sales in April 2026 stood at 18,637 units. Growing demand in urban transport and last-mile connectivity is driving this segment.
Overall, TVS Motor Company’s performance in terms of sales figures for April 2026 is satisfactory, with the company maintaining growth despite some challenges. The company is likely to grow at a faster pace in the coming years if production bottlenecks are resolved and further investments are made in the EV segment.
