UAE: Update on Philippines Passport Renewal Service, new information about VFS Global’s services

The passport renewal process is very important for Filipino citizens living in UAE. Recently there were reports that this facility through VFS Global will end on June 30. But the official website and latest information have revealed something else.

According to a report by Khaleej Times, the Philippine Diplomatic Mission in the UAE had said that passport renewal services through VFS Global will stop on June 30. The news raised concerns among Filipino expatriates who use VFS to renew their travel documents.

However, the information given on the official website of VFS Global is different from this. According to the website updated as of 2026, VFS Global is still the sole service provider for Philippine e-passport renewal services in the UAE. This work is being done in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

The website also has updates for December 2025 and March 2026, which provide information about holidays and changes in working hours. It also gives contact numbers of Abu Dhabi and Dubai centers for passport renewal, which shows that the services are operational.

On the other hand, the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi had announced to remain closed on June 27, 2026 due to a holiday. The Embassy had clarified that all regular services including passport renewal will resume from June 30, 2026. There was no mention of ending the partnership with VFS Global in this government notice.
