Mumbai. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He questioned the Prime Minister’s meeting with six MPs who left their party and joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, saying that the Prime Minister has no time to meet with protesting youth but has time to meet with “traitors.”
Questions raised about the meeting with MPs from the Shinde faction:
During a press conference in Mumbai, Uddhav Thackeray questioned the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and the six MPs who left the Shiv Sena (UBT). He asked what the purpose of the Prime Minister’s meeting was when a political dispute involving the Shiv Sena is pending in the Supreme Court.
Thackeray questioned whether this meeting was an attempt to pressure or intimidate the Supreme Court. He stated that he has full faith in the Constitution and the Supreme Court and hopes that the decision will be based on the Constitution.
“Traitors are being assured that the PM is with them” –
Uddhav Thackeray said that the Prime Minister doesn’t have time to meet with the youth and protesters, but he does have time to meet with the rebel MPs. He claimed that this meeting is reassuring the MPs that the central government stands with them.
He questioned why such a meeting was necessary at a time when the matter is sub judice. Thackeray said that the issue will also be raised before the Supreme Court.
Calling the current atmosphere “the calm before the storm” –
Referring to the youth protests in the country, Thackeray described the current political atmosphere as “the calm before the storm.” He said that the movements of the young people have shaken the government.
Thackeray also questioned the police action against the protesters, saying that instead of listening to the voices of the youth, action is being taken against them. He claimed that the time has come for change in the country.
Taking a dig at the “PM running the government from Instagram” –
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uddhav Thackeray also mentioned the criticism he faced over his Facebook Live programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that at that time, he was targeted for doing Facebook Live, but now the situation is such that the Prime Minister is “running the government through Instagram.”
He alleged that the Prime Minister does not want to communicate with the youth, the future of the country.
Also commenting on Mohan Bhagwat’s interaction with youth –
Referring to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s interaction with Gen-G youth, Thackeray said that the youth are not ready to listen to him. He also advised the government to engage with the protesting students in Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, talks were held between a group of job aspirants in Jharkhand and the government on the issue of alleged paper leak, but the deadlock failed to end. The protesters say that the agitation will continue until all their key demands are met.
