Speculations about resignation increased the stir

According to the report of Britain’s prestigious newspaper The Observer, Prime Minister Keir Starmer may soon decide to step down from his post. The report also said that if he resigns, he can also make public the complete time frame for leaving his post. On the other hand, government sources say that the Prime Minister is completely focused on his administrative work and there is no truth in the news of resignation.

Pressure increased due to Andy Burnham’s victory

On 19 June, Starmer’s main political rival Andy Burnham scored a significant victory in the parliamentary election. After this victory, Burnham has got the opportunity to strengthen the demand for leadership change within the Labor Party. Political analysts believe that this development has further increased the pressure on Starmer.

Discussing with wife and colleagues

According to sources, the Prime Minister is currently at his official rural residence ‘Chequers’, where he is discussing future strategy with his wife and close aides. Many senior leaders of the Labor Party believe that by Monday the situation may become clear and a major decision may be taken on Starmer’s political future.

Growing opposition within the party

Starmer is facing tough opposition not only from the opposition but also from within his own party. About one-fourth of the Labor Party MPs in the House of Commons are said to be dissatisfied with his leadership. More than 100 MPs have publicly raised their voice against him. These MPs demand that the Prime Minister either resign immediately or declare a clear deadline for an honorable farewell.

Starmer ready to face the challenge

However, Starmer recently said he would face any leadership challenge strongly. He also appealed to the party leaders to avoid internal discord and maintain the unity of the organization. Now everyone’s eyes are fixed on Monday, when the picture regarding his future can become clear.
