What instructions to the district president?

According to party sources, the party has instructed all district presidents to adopt the Bengal election model in Uttar Pradesh by refocusing on booth committees, panna chiefs, power centers and local level political campaigning. The BJP aims to assess all the 1,62,459 assembly booths in the state in the coming months. It includes 27,633 constituencies spread over 1,918 mandals. The process will also include around 14,000 new booths created after Special In-depth Review of Voters List (SIR). The party leaders have directed the district units to immediately form booth committees and appoint booth presidents and booth parents (booth palaks) for these newly incorporated polling stations.

What is BJP’s mega plan?

The party has focused on four key factors while strategizing for election victory. Under this, it has been decided to appoint panna chiefs, establish Shakti Kendras, categorize polling stations and conduct election campaigns at ultra-local level. Under the Panna Prakham system, each Panna Prakham would be responsible for 30 to 35 voters on one page of the electoral roll, with whom he would maintain regular contact. Additionally, in the Shakti Kendra system, a Shakti Kendra is formed by grouping 5 to 7 polling stations and appointing a coordinator to influence undecided voters.

Hyper-local promotion

Apart from these two measures, the BJP has also decided to categorize polling booths to influence voters at a micro-level. Under the scheme, all polling stations will be classified into “strong,” “competitive,” and “weak” categories, allowing additional resources and monitoring to be deployed in sensitive areas. Apart from this, the BJP is also working on a hyper-local campaign plan. This will include special campaigns at the booth level based on local issues. In a series of meetings between Lucknow and Delhi, the appointment of department-wise in-charges is also being considered to give edge to the organizational work.

Learn from past mistakes

According to the information received, the meeting also focused on removing the errors that came to light during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In this regard, BJP is paying special attention to those 61 assembly constituencies. Where the party won in 2017. But lost in 2022 election. District presidents have been asked to conduct a booth-wise review in these areas, find out the causes of defeat and take corrective measures. These episodes also suggest the creation of new social equations. Besides, the BJP is trying to strengthen its presence among various social groups to counter the opposition Samajwadi Party’s ‘PDA’ (Backward, Dalit, Minority) formula.
