UP moved from mobile assembly to microchip, CM Yogi said – Semiconductor and AI will form the foundation of the new digital economy.

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that Uttar Pradesh is no longer limited to mere 'assembly' of mobile phones, but is moving towards microchip manufacturing through investment in the field of semiconductor, data center and artificial intelligence (AI). He said that the state is building a strong foundation for the digital economy of the future.

The Chief Minister wrote on the social media platform 'X', “From Assembly to AI: New flight of new Uttar Pradesh…” He said that the previous governments did not fully utilize the potential of the state and kept it 'sick'.

Yogi said that today, within nine and a half years, Uttar Pradesh has a share in the production of about 60 percent mobile phones and 55 percent electronic components in the country. He said that the double engine government has linked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Make in India', 'Digital India' and 'Self-reliant India' with policy, investment and production in Uttar Pradesh.

Chip unit worth Rs 3,706 crore, data center of 644 MW proposed in Jewar

The Chief Minister said that HCL-Foxconn's chip unit is being set up in Jewar at a cost of Rs 3,706 crore. Apart from this, proposals for data center of 644 MW capacity have come in the state. More than 24,000 startups and eight unicorns are present in the state.

He said that the technological journey of Uttar Pradesh is now reaching from mobile to module and from module to microchip.

Yogi's attack on governments before 2017

Taking aim at the previous governments, Yogi said that the situation was different before 2017. There were announcements, but it was difficult to get the projects off the ground.

He said, “Because at that time familyism was the only development, Saifai Mahotsav itself became the model of cultural upliftment and mafiaization became the model of industrialization.” The Chief Minister questioned that when the government is more concerned about the family than the state and criminals more than investors, then how will a favorable environment be created for the technology of the future.

Target to connect 10 lakh youth with 'AI Pragya'

Yogi Adityanath said that under the state's 'AI Pragya' initiative, a target has been set to connect 10 lakh youth with emerging technologies.

He also informed that he will attend the event organized on the occasion of completion of 10 years of establishment of HCLTech in Lucknow on Tuesday and will witness the launch of 'HCL Guvi Emerging Tech Skilling Centre'.

The Chief Minister said that this is a new flight of 'New Uttar Pradesh' with the resolve of developed India and developed Uttar Pradesh.
