Kanpur, Read. In the 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), Dr. Sanjay Kapoor of Kanpur was made the Chairman of UP T-20 League for the second consecutive time. Sanjeev Kumar Singh of Ghazipur was also re-elected as a member of the Governing Council in the AGM held at Hotel Landmark on Wednesday. Along with this, four directors Abhishek Singhania, Ashok Chaturvedi, Riyasat Ali and Pradeep Kumar Gupta were also re-appointed after completion of their tenure.
Due to there being only two nominations for two posts of the Governing Council, the elections for both the posts were held unopposed. The authority to take final decisions on all committees has been given to UPCA President and Secretary. After the AGM, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said that former judge Vineet Sharan has been appointed as UPCA's Ombudsman and Krishna Murari as Ethics Officer.
Regarding the new stadium of UPCA being built in Varanasi, he told that soon domestic cricket matches will be organized there. Before this, the condition of the pitch and field will be tested by conducting local level matches. Rajiv Shukla said that Kashi Stadium has been kept as an option along with Baroda to host the BCCI Women's Premier League (WPL) to be held next year. If the stadium is completely ready, WPL matches can be organized there.
Talks with CSJMU for new stadium in Kanpur
In view of the expiry of the lease of Kamala Club in Kanpur and the beginning of the rejuvenation work of Green Park Stadium, UPCA is preparing to sign an MOU with the new stadium being built in Kanpur University. Rajeev Shukla said that there was a need for a level ground in the city, for which talks are going on with CSJMU. After the agreement, UPCA activities can be started there.

Rajiv Shukla congratulated Dr. Sanjay Kapoor on the success of the fourth phase of UP T-20 League. He said that the format of two cities will be retained in the fifth phase also. Also, the Governing Council can also consider including eight teams in the next season. UPCA President Nidhipati Singhania, Secretary Prem Manohar Gupta, Treasurer Sachin Anand Shukla, Vice President Rakesh Mishra, Joint Secretary Dr. Umer Hasan, CEO Ankit Chatterjee, Media Committee Chairman Mohammad Faheem, Ahmed Ali Khan Talib and UPCA members were present in the AGM.
