US Air Force and Navy fighter planes were used in these attacks. The US mainly targeted Iran’s bases where missiles and drones were kept. Along with this, coastal radar sites built on the Strait of Hormuz and Qeshm Island were also attacked.
Reason for the attack and official statement
US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the strikes were a response to attacks on commercial vessels by the Iranian military. CENTCOM reported on social media platform X that US forces attacked missile storage and radar sites as Iran targeted a commercial ship.
On this matter, President Donald Trump accused Iran of violating the ceasefire agreement. At the same time, Vice President JD Vance warned in a stern tone that violence will be responded to only with violence. He said that Iran had signed the agreement and if they have any problem, they can choose the path of talks.
Iran’s reaction and latest situation
On the other hand, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that they also targeted American military bases in the area in retaliation. Iran’s Foreign Ministry has described America’s move as a flagrant violation of the United Nations (UN) Charter and the agreement between the two countries.
According to the information, this whole controversy started after the drone attack on a commercial ship named M/V Ever Lovely or Kiku on 25 June 2026. Six US Army aircraft attacked four targets on Iran’s coast and Qeshm Island. Iran’s state media also shared news of explosions near Sirik city.
