A spokesperson for Mitchell said in February that the former senator had declined invitations after learning of Epstein's criminal behavior, the BBC reported. In 2018 itself, Epstein had mentioned Michelle as his very close friend. On the other hand, according to 'The New York Times', Michelle sent a hand-written letter to Epstein in 2003 for the financier's 50th birthday book.
