Vehicles will not stop at toll plazas: Barrier-less free flow toll system started in India, highway travel will be fast and easy.

Knews Desk– A big step has been taken towards making the road transport system in the country modern and fast. Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) barrier-less tolling system has been introduced for the first time in India. This new technology was launched from Chorayasi toll plaza on Surat-Bharuch National Highway (NH-48), Gujarat. On this occasion, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated this system.

After the implementation of this new system, vehicles will no longer need to stop at the toll plaza. Trains will be able to pay toll without stopping, which will significantly reduce travel time. The system is based on the combined use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and FASTag technology. As soon as the vehicle passes through the toll area, the system will identify it and automatically deduct the toll fee.

The government believes that this technology will make travel on the country’s highway network more convenient. This will not only reduce the problem of traffic jam, but will also save fuel and reduce pollution. Also, human intervention in the toll collection process will also be eliminated to a great extent, thereby increasing transparency.

During the inauguration, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the move will strengthen both “Ease of Living” and “Ease of Doing Business”. According to him, this will also greatly benefit the freight and logistics sector as trucks and commercial vehicles will save time and reduce transportation costs.

Gadkari also said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuously working to develop world-class and technology-based national highway infrastructure in the country. He said that in the coming time, such barrier-less tolling system will be implemented on other national highways also. Experts believe that this system is a historic change in India’s tolling model. Till now, the process of stopping and paying at toll plazas was time consuming and at times caused traffic jams. With the advent of new technology this problem will be eliminated to a great extent.

However, the success of this system will also depend on its technical implementation and monitoring. The accuracy of ANPR cameras, quality of FASTag data and strength of the network will decide the effectiveness of this system. The barrier-less free flow toll system is being considered an important step towards taking road travel in India into a new digital era. This will not only improve the experience of passengers, but is also expected to bring great efficiency in the country’s transport infrastructure.
