Before the assembly elections to be held in 2027, the political atmosphere of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand has started heating up rapidly. Even though there is still time left for the elections, a recent survey has tried to understand the mood of the public in detail.
The results of this survey have come out quite shocking. The people in all three states are not as angry with the functioning of their respective state governments and Chief Ministers as they seem to be dissatisfied with the current MLAs of their areas.
The surveys of 'Vote Vibe' and 'India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation' have clearly indicated this trend. However, it is a matter of relief for the ruling parties that this public anger against the MLAs has not had a direct negative impact on the overall performance of the ruling parties. India Today, in one of its reports, has quoted 'Vote Vibe' founder Amitabh Tiwari as saying that the main reason for the public's displeasure with its MLAs is that they are out of reach of the general public.
According to Amitabh Tiwari, “The biggest complaint of the common voters is that after winning the elections, many MLAs leave the work of their assembly constituencies to their family members, relatives or friends. They themselves camp in the state capital. This habit of the public representatives and not being able to get the public work done on time is the main reason for this anger.”
He also indicated that about 10 to 15 percent of the voters in the three states decide their vote only on the basis of the personal image and behavior of the candidate. In such a situation, this regional dissatisfaction is going to be the biggest and decisive factor in the ticket distribution strategy of political parties in the upcoming 2027 elections.
No hatred towards Yogi, no hatred towards MLAs
Public displeasure towards the sitting MLAs has been seen the most in Uttar Pradesh. About 49 percent of the people surveyed have clearly expressed their unhappiness over the performance of the current MLA of their area, while only 27.9 percent are satisfied with the performance of their MLA.
At the same time, when questions were asked about the face of the Chief Minister, 43.3 percent people said Yogi Adityanath as their first choice. In this race, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav stood second with 35.5 percent support. Apart from this, the overall credibility of the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also remains in better condition. 41.8 percent people of Uttar Pradesh have appreciated the work of the state government.
Talking about the possible voting trend in the assembly elections, a tough and tough contest is visible between the BJP led NDA and the Samajwadi Party (SP) alliance. Statistics show that the BJP alliance is expected to get 41.8% votes and the SP alliance is expected to get 38.7% votes. At the same time, when people were asked who they saw winning, the electoral contest appeared to be absolutely equal.
This very interesting fact has also come to light in the survey that while the voters above 45 years of age are standing strongly in favor of Yogi Adityanath and the Bharatiya Janata Party, the young voters are being seen more inclined towards SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
Bhagwant Mann's credibility also intact
Even in Punjab, local dissatisfaction is clearly visible against the MLAs of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). While 45.3 percent people in the state are dissatisfied with the work of the MLAs of their area, 40 percent people seem to be satisfied with the work of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's government.
Bhagwant Mann remains the first choice for the post of Chief Minister in the state with 40.1% support. After him, Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi is in second place with 20.6% votes.
In terms of assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party remains at the forefront with 34 percent vote share, while Congress is at second place with 30.2 percent. Apart from this, Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to get 12.2% votes and Shiromani Akali Dal is expected to get 11.3% votes. The biggest feature of the voters of Punjab is that 71.2 percent people here have already decided who they will vote for, which shows the most stable and strongest voter base among the three states.
